Lydd London Ashford Airport

Securitec Systems worked in conjunction with varies parties, installing and commissioning a multi discipline integrated security solution, to protect and future proof the internal and external of the property as its current expansion plans take to the air.

THE TASK

Lydd London Ashford Airport based in Kent, is conveniently situated for travellers wanting to visit the South East of England and is within easy access to the M20 motorway. The high speed rail link from The Ashford International Station will get you into England’s capital, London, St. Pancras Station in just 37 minutes alternately private helicopter transfers to London can be arranged, typically taking 25-35 minutes. Flying into the airport from Continental Europe is easy and unrestricted being situated just outside the London TMA. The Airport caters for a wide range of aircraft operations, from executive jets, helicopters, to private light aircraft and cargo and offers secure hangarage and aircraft parking.

HM Coastguards Search and Rescue helicopter service has also begun operating from the airport and is now the new permanent home for the South East Coastguard search and rescue helicopters following completion of a multi-million new hanger, Run way extention and accommodation block.

THE SOLUTION

With Securitec Systems expertise and past experience working in the Transport and Travel Industry, they were tasked to install and commission the sites security systems.

The networked intruder alarm system protects the building and it’s contents from theft or vandalism.A PC based IP access control and IP door entry system prevents unauthorised personnel from entering the airports grounds and buildings.

An IP CCTV system has been installed for the prevention and detection of crime, apprehension of offenders and the general publics and employee’s safety.

The systems all operate using the latest technology and fiber optic communication ensures the site has the highest level of protection with a fully intergraded security and monitoring system.

“This investment by Bristow is warmly welcomed and coincides with rising passenger numbers, an increase in aircraft traffic, more jobs created and substantial investment in facilities, including a multi-million pound runway extension and a new £700,000 hangar”

THE OUTCOME

The new security systems offer the airport and it clients whether it be for operation, storage or travel, the piece of mind that only fully authorised individuals are on the property and are been constantly monitored.

Charles Buchanan, chief executive of London Ashford Airport at Lydd in Kent said the establishment of Bristow’s new search and rescue helicopter base this summer has given the fast-expanding airport a real boost.
