Didcot Parkway in Oxfordshire is the home to one of the UKs oldest and most important trainway junctions operated by Great Western Rail, now called GWR. Opened in 1844 this main line between Oxford and London way now sees over 3 million visitors a year. With London 40 minutes away Didcot is a popular station amongst commuters.
Securitec Systems intensive rail experience ensured we were contracted to install a large state of the art IP CCTV system. Provisions were made for customer information screens with future expansion capacity throughout the new 6 storey 1800 space car park. The car park is linked to the main station via a new footbridge to ensure easy access between the 2 areas.
The car park offers high level of security for the public with superb clear lighting and site wide IP CCTV coverage, providing a safe environment for users of the car park and station facilities.
Securitec Installed around 90 Samsung IP cameras complete with infrared for use in low light levels, specified to the latest network rail standards, guaranteeing excellent live and recorded images.
Additional work included the installation of the telephone infrastructure inside the building for the lifts emergency telephone lines and also providing provisions for the customer information screens.
Supported by Oxfordshire County Council and Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, the station has undergone a 20 million redevelopment to build the new multi-storey car park.
New Intercity Express trains and the Electrostar began operating at Didcot this year. The increase in customers has led to the much needed expansion of the onsite parking facilities and in turn the need to protect the public and their belongings using CCTV was a necessity.
